About Dobersberg Nature Park

Dobersberg Nature Park, with its hiking trails and nature trails, is open all year round and admission is free. A small fee is payable for use of the camping sites. Please contact the nature park management for further details.

Dobersberg Nature Park offers three signposted nature trails focusing on forests, ferns and butterflies. The latter even features child-friendly information and a free audio guide accessible via smartphone. There are also animal enclosures, playgrounds, barbecue areas and campsites, as well as opportunities for fishing and swimming in the River Thaya. Numerous hiking trails lead through the valley up to the Maiswald hill, from where there is a beautiful view of the nature park and Dobersberg. 

The nature park has three different campsites, each with basic toilet facilities and a water supply. All three sites can accommodate at least 100 people. If you’re looking to cool off after a hike, you’ll find a lovely spot for a swim on the River Thaya at the Alte Badehütte Dobersberg. 

Otters and brook lampreys thrive in and around the river, with its protected alluvial forests of alder, ash and willow. Many butterfly species, such as the small and large marsh fritillary, the purple-edged fritillary, the large copper and the golden-spotted fritillary, use the meadows near the river as their habitat. The structurally rich river and hedgerow landscape of the nature park also provides an important breeding and living habitat for red-backed shrikes and kingfishers. Three different nature trails provide information about the unique features of the flora and fauna along the Thaya.
